Early voting closes Tuesday.<\/p>\n Voters have one more chance Tuesday to vote early before the May 2 elections throughout Tarrant County.<\/p>\n Numerous mayoral, city council and school trustee races and bond and charter amendment propositions<\/a> are before voters in Fort Worth, Arlington and dozens of suburban cities and school districts around the region. Early voting opened April 20 and closes Tuesday.<\/p>\n In Fort Worth, voters are being asked to consider an $845 million bond package<\/a> in several propositions for streets, parks, libraries, affordable housing, public safety and animal control.<\/p>\n The city also is asking voters to consider nine charter amendments<\/a>, including one to raise the pay of the mayor and city council members.<\/p>\n It\u2019s the third time in 10 years<\/a> the question has been on the ballot, having failed twice previously.<\/p>\n The city also is holding a special election to fill the unexpired term of the District 10 city council seat<\/a> held by Alan Blaylock, who is stepping down to run for Legislature.<\/p>\n In Arlington, the school district is asking voters to consider a $501.26 million bond package<\/a> in three propositions to replace two elementary schools and make numerous improvements to campuses.<\/p>\n Two Arlington ISD trustees are up for reelection<\/a> and opposed.<\/p>\n Arlington Mayor Jim Ross is up for reelection<\/a> and challenged by three candidates; two council members are seeking reelection and opposed; and two council seats are open, with multiple candidates.<\/p>\n The city is also asking voters to consider whether to reauthorize a municipal sales and use tax<\/a> for street maintenance.<\/p>\n Scott Nishimura is senior editor for local governmental accountability and a Fort Worth City Hall reporter at the Fort Worth Report.
