He is currently competing against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/elections\/2025\/06\/27\/gov-greg-abbott-sets-date-for-special-election-in-north-texas-senate-seat\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">conservative activist Leigh Wambsganss<\/a> and Democrat Taylor Rehmet for the seat held by former state Sen.
