{"id":759583,"date":"2026-04-28T18:57:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T18:57:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/759583\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T18:57:11","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T18:57:11","slug":"lions-receiver-jameson-williams-sues-ncaa-big-ten-sec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/759583\/","title":{"rendered":"Lions receiver Jameson Williams sues NCAA, Big Ten &#038; SEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Detroit <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/07\/sports\/lions-give-jameson-williams-83-million-extension-just-before-season\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams<\/a> filed a bombshell lawsuit against the NCAA, the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference this week.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents, obtained The California Post, show the NFL star sued the three entities in Los Angeles County on Monday over allegations they\u2019ve been using his <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/03\/sports\/trump-issues-widespread-nil-executive-order-in-attempt-to-fix-college-athletics\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">name, image and likeness <\/a>without properly compensating him for it.<\/p>\n<p>Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams filed a bombshell lawsuit against the NCAA, the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference this week. AP<\/p>\n<p>Williams, who played at Ohio State in 2019 and 2020 before finishing his collegiate career at Alabama in 2021, now wants money \u2014 and an injunction barring the defendants from using his NIL \u201cfor financial or any similar gain or reason without his consent and compensation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo date,\u201d Williams\u2019 lawsuit states, \u201cWilliams has received no fair compensation from Defendants for the full commercial value of his name, image, and likeness. Defendendants continuously financially benefit from Jameson Williams\u2019 name, image and likeness rights, wille also doing so without proving him with just compensation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At Alabama, Jameson Williams recorded 1,572 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns on 79 receptions in 15 games. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Williams stated he wants \u201cthe social media earnings that [he] would have received but for Defendants\u2019 unlawful conduct\u201d as well as a cut of the \u201cthe game telecast group licensing revenue\u201d he said the defendants earned, in part, due to his success on college football fields.<\/p>\n<p>In his two seasons at OSU, Williams logged 266 yards and three touchdowns on 15 catches. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlaintiff received less \u2014 zero \u2014 than he otherwise would have received for the use of his name, image, and likeness in a competitive marketplace, and was thus damaged, and seeks to recover those damages,\u201d Williams\u2019 lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<p>Williams is formally suing for violation of the Cartwright Act, violation of the Unfair Practices Act, violation of the Sherman Antitrust and violation of the Lanham Act.<\/p>\n<p>A message to Williams\u2019 attorneys seeking comment on Tuesday was not immediately returned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Download
