iOS 27<\/a> will include multiple new AI-powered photo editing features, according to a new report. These features will let you quickly improve, expand, and reframe your images. <\/p>\n

iOS 27 to focus on AI-powered photo editing features<\/p>\n

Bloomberg<\/a> reports that iOS 27 will refresh the editing interface in the Photos app to add a new \u201cApple Intelligence Tools\u201d section. Inside this menu, there will reportedly be three options that can make changes to a photo in a \u201cfew seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cExtend\u201d will allow users to \u201cgenerate additional image content beyond the original frame,\u201d the report explains. \u201cFor example, someone could take a close-up photo of a landmark and use the tool to fill in surrounding scenery.\u201d Users can choose how much is added by dragging the photo\u2019s edges with their fingers.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnhance\u201d will automatically improve an image\u2019s quality, as well as aspects like lighting and colors. Finally, the \u201cReframe\u201d option will let users \u201cshift perspective\u201d for spatial photos.<\/p>\n

However, development of these new photo editing features \u201chasn\u2019t gone entirely smoothly,\u201d the report says. In particular, the Extend and Reframe tools \u201cdon\u2019t perform reliably during internal testing.\u201d This could lead Apple to \u201cdelay or scale back the features depending on improvements to its underlying models.\u201d<\/p>\n

iOS 27 is set to be unveiled at WWDC on June 8. In addition to the new photo editing features, the update will reportedly include major improvements to the broader Siri experience. Apple is also focusing on bug fixes and general stability improvements.<\/p>\n
