JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 Jacksonville City Council approved an expansion of the city\u2019s 3 a.m. liquor ordinance to the Brooklyn neighborhood during a council meeting Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Councilman Jimmy Peluso introduced the bill to bring the extended hours to his district.<\/p>\n

Not everyone was on board. Councilman Ron Salem voiced opposition, saying he believed the expansion was happening too soon and that council should wait for more data before moving forward.<\/p>\n

Councilman Rahman Johnson held a notice meeting earlier in the day focused on gathering data to assess the current effectiveness of the extended hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 6 months, the data will come back and determine what we will do to have a real entertainment district,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n

Despite the opposition, the measure passed. Peluso celebrated the win for his district.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you everyone. I am grateful to Councilman Arias for the other bill,\u201d Peluso said.<\/p>\n
