First, it was Spinal Tap<\/a>. Now, REO Speedwagon\u2019s Bruce Hall<\/a><\/strong> is taking on the Coldplay jumbotron scandal<\/a> and running with it by quoting one of his band\u2019s own classic songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who, heard it from Coldplay<\/a> you\u2019ve been messin around\u2026..,\u201d the band\u2019s bassist posted on Facebook<\/a> on July 18 along with three photos of the couple in question on the jumbotron, first in an embrace and then shirking in embarrassment once they realize their image is being broadcast throughout the stadium.<\/p>\n

Hall\u2019s post features the lyrics from REO Speedwagon\u2019s 1980 top 5 hit \u201cTake It on the Run,\u201d<\/a> from the band\u2019s chart-topping ninth album, Hi Infidelity<\/a>, replacing the original “heard it from another” lyric with “Coldplay.”<\/p>\n

The irony of pairing a variation of the song\u2019s lyrics, from an album with that title, with the Coldplay jumbotron scandal couple was not lost on Hall\u2019s fans. Some even adapted lyrics from other REO classics to the situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd after caught on camera it was time for him to fly. He won\u2019t be ridin this storm out,\u201d wrote one, referencing the band’s 1973 hit, “Ridin’ the Storm Out.”<\/p>\n

\u201che can\u2019t fight this feeling, but he\u2019s going to have to roll with the changes,\u201d responded another, with a nod to the band’s 1978 song “Roll With the Changes.”<\/p>\n

\u201cOmg!!!! Please tell me I\u2019m not the only one who just sang this? Out loud???\u201d added another.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd as he leaves with his bags, he turns to his wife and says, “Im Gonna Keep On Loving You!!!!\u201d another fan added, referencing “Keep on Loving You,” a No. 1 hit from Hi Infidelity. <\/p>\n

Others skipped the REO references and joked about Coldplay.<\/p>\n

One posted a meme he \u201cstole from a friend\u201d that read, \u201cColdplay haven\u2019t released any singles for ages but they created two last night.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat guy ended up playing more money for his Coldplay tickets than any other individual in the history of the world,\u201d added another.<\/p>\n

The \u201cguy\u201d in question has been identified as Andy Byron<\/a><\/strong>, the CEO of the software company Astronomer. He was caught on camera hugging a woman who appeared to be his co-worker, Kristin Cabot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
