Next year will be even hotter. \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Already, 2026 is shaping up to be the world\u2019s second-warmest year on record, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carbonbrief.org\/state-of-the-climate-strong-el-nino-puts-2026-on-track-for-second-warmest-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">some analyses<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For Europe, the past winter was <a href=\"https:\/\/climate.copernicus.eu\/surface-air-temperature-february-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">one of the coldest<\/a> in recent years, but temperatures are rebounding. Last month was <a href=\"https:\/\/climate.copernicus.eu\/copernicus-fourth-warmest-march-globally-sea-surface-temperatures-return-near-record-levels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the continent\u2019s second-hottest March<\/a> on record.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s report confirmed that 2025 marked Europe\u2019s worst wildfire season on record, both in terms of the land burnt and the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the blazes.<\/p>\n<p>Sea temperatures around Europe were the highest on record for the fourth consecutive year.
