Let me break it to you gently.<\/p>\n

Mom might not want a steak for Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

On May 10, Mother\u2019s Day calls for a pretty brunch cafe or tea room. Or an Italian or French restaurant. Or for some moms, a mimosa.<\/p>\n

Here are a few obvious picks and some other ideas to make the day memorable for Mom:<\/p>\n

Tops on the list<\/p>\n

On Mother\u2019s Day or any day, the moms in your life probably like lunch at Rise Souffl\u00e9 in Fort Worth or Southlake<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The French-themed \u201csalon de souffl\u00e9\u201d and wine bar is known for its chocolate souffl\u00e9, Grand Marnier souffl\u00e9 and other savory and sweet specialties.<\/p>\n

But Rise also now serves a New York strip steak along with trout, ahi tuna and other non-puffy dishes.<\/p>\n

Some of the best desserts aren\u2019t souffl\u00e9s at all. They\u2019re the apple tart, molten chocolate cake and creme brulee.<\/p>\n

The newer Rise location on the Keller-Southlake border still has reservations available on Mother\u2019s Day. At the Shops at Clearfork location, maybe try for a table Satirday or at off-hours.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s interesting to see which restaurants book up first.<\/p>\n

The most popular Mother\u2019s Day lunch in suburban Tarrant County seems be at Canada-based Moxies. It\u2019s an upscale casual restaurant and bar in Southlake Town Square known for lettuce wraps, salads, and pastas. It\u2019s available at midafternoon; moxies.com.<\/p>\n

In Fort Worth, families are booking up the familiar Sunday favorites: Fixe Southern House, a modern Southern dinner house in the Shops at Clearfork known for fried chicken, duck-fat biscuits and lobster or crawfish pot pie. See more at fixesouthernhouse.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Biscuits are a specialty at Fixe Southern House.<\/p>\n

In fact, if you don\u2019t know where to take Mom, wander around the Shops at Clearfork. If the NM Cafe at Neiman Marcus cant fit her in, there\u2019s always excellent general fare at B&B Butchers, Doc B\u2019s or Press Cafe. Or take her for stepped-up Tex-Mex at Mesero, or brunch and wine at CR\u00da Wine Bar & Bistro.<\/p>\n

Also busy: both locations of Social House<\/a>, the Fort Worth and Arlington restaurants known for good food in a bar-and-grill setting, The weekly brunch menu includes crabcake eggs Benedict, chicken-fried chicken with jalape\u00f1o gravy or bananas Foster French toast; socialhousearlington.com.<\/a><\/p>\n

Pretty places<\/p>\n

Mother\u2019s Day is the rare Sunday when top-rated Paris 7th Restaurant Fran\u00e7ais in the Cultural District is open for brunch.<\/p>\n

Look for a menu similar to Easter\u2019s, when Paris 7th served salmon croquette Benedict, porcini quiche and other items; 3324 W,. Seventh St., 817-489-5300, paris7th.com.<\/a><\/p>\n

Italian restaurants open for Mother\u2019s Day lunch include Acquario in Keller, Campisi\u2019s in Ridglea, Caterina\u2019s on Mule Alley, il Calabrese in Southlake and Sicilian Butcher near Alliance Town Center.<\/p>\n

Beren Meze & Grill House, a pretty and brand-new Turkish restaurant, is open at 1216 Sixth Ave. on the Near Southside. Other Mediterranean restaurants such as Istanbul Grill, Meraki and Truva in Colleyville are open.<\/p>\n

Traditional buffets<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s leading holiday buffet remains the Omni Fort Worth ballroom brunch. It\u2019s $88.<\/p>\n

Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, a membership golf club, opens to the public for a Mother\u2019s Day buffet. It\u2019s $99.<\/p>\n

The view from Branch & Bird, an all-day restaurant high in the Frost Tower on Taylor Street.<\/p>\n

Branch & Bird, a skyline restaurant in a bank tower downtown, will offer a buffet for $64.99.<\/p>\n

The Rim in the Waterside shops will offer its holiday buffet featuring a ham and tri-tip beef carving station. It\u2019s $44.99.<\/p>\n

Blue Mesa Grill in Fort Worth is serving its Southwestern brunch buffet with mimosas both Saturday and Sunday ($50).<\/p>\n

More for Mom<\/p>\n

The Silver Fox restaurants will open for a special Sunday and serve both the regular menu and a brunch special: beef tenderloin eggs Benedict.<\/p>\n

Irving-based Whiskey Cafe near Alliance Town Center is offering its Mother\u2019s Day special both Saturday and Sunday: a 6-ounce filet mignon with grilled chile-butter shrimp.<\/p>\n

Dozens of moms will celebrate in an antique mall tea room such as the Secret Garden, 2601 Montgomery St., or local pie favorite the Rose Garden Tea Room. 7200 Camp Bowie Blvd.<\/p>\n

\"Plates<\/p>\n

Plates of finger sandwiches, scones, fruit and cookies served with tea at the Secret Garden Restaurant tea room in the Montgomery Street Antique Mall. The restaurant serves an afternoon tea and can seat large groups.<\/p>\n

The Dallas-based Mimi\u2019s Cafe chain is serving its brunch specials both days along with a 3-course special dinner for $36.<\/p>\n

Corporate cousin La Madeleine will feed Mom free on Mother\u2019s Day, if you have a rewards account and spend $30 in a single visit before May 10.<\/p>\n

Yes, all the prime steakhouses are open too.<\/p>\n
