Melania — who wore a yellow Carolina Herrera dress while visiting Buckingham Palace last year — went with a pale-pink strapless gown by Christian Dior haute couture this time around, which she paired with matching silk shoes and off-white suede gloves, both also by Dior. According to White House pool reports, the color of the dress and shoes was “pale delphinium pink,” apparently a reference to King Charles III’s favorite flower. Sure!

The shade of pink, as pale as it was, was still a more colorful choice than Melania’s usual palette of beige and black and white. (Maybe she likes to bring out the bold hues for Camilla, whose dress on Tuesday night was magenta.) However, the dress did seem oddly familiar — it bore a striking resemblance to a different Republican gown that made headlines this week, which was worn by Pete Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer Rauchet, to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend. That one was widely believed to have come from Temu, which I guess makes Melania’s look like an upgrade. Too bad Dior didn’t have a delphinium-pink Hamburglar hat.

          Stay in touch.

The latest in style, self, culture, and power in your inbox.

Vox Media, LLC Terms and Privacy Notice

By submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice and to receive email correspondence from us.

  Related

Photo: Chris Jackson/Getty Images On Tuesday, Donald and Melania Trump continued their extended couples’ hang with King Charles…

[33
185,18974,171,10574,13754,80,6172,5921,55937,94878,67,132,68
post-761880","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-celebrities","tag-celebrities","tag-dior","tag-entertainment","tag-fashion","tag-melania-trump","tag-politics","tag-power","tag-style","tag-the-royals","tag-trump-2-0","tag-united-states","tag-unitedstates","tag-us
["GET
