In case the Star Wars fans in your life haven\u2019t told you yet, \u201cMay the Fourth\u201d is almost with us.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The date that so closely resembles the Jedi catchphrase that it has become the informal day to commemorate the epic space opera is next week.<\/p>\n

Rather than just re-watch the original trilogy or its prequels, sequels and spinoffs, you can check out the comedy, soccer, entertainment and deals in the city and the region that are celebrating George Lucas\u2019 creation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

May 4 falls on a Monday this year, so a lot of Force-themed events are happening the weekend before that actual day.<\/p>\n

Every day is Star Wars Day at this South Kensington spot, where the space is adorned with Star Wars toys and other items, including a life-sized R2-D2 and Han Solo encased in carbonite. There\u2019s also artwork by owner Terrence Laragione<\/a> on the walls, available for sale.<\/p>\n

Buzz Cafe is closed on Mondays, and this Monday is no different, so you have to check them out on any other day of the week.<\/p>\n

This Center City Comedy club will be bringing back its \u201cImprovised Star Wars\u201d show on Friday evening at 7 p.m.<\/a> using audience suggestions. There\u2019s also a \u2018hottie Sith poll,\u201d<\/a> between original trilogy\u2019s antagonist Darth Vader, Darth Maul from the prequels or Asajj Ventress<\/a> from the animated \u201cClone Wars\u201d series. Tickets are available at Comedy Sportz Philly\u2019s website<\/a>, and the event is \u201cBYOBorJawaJuice.\u201d<\/p>\n

This incredibly-named chicken shop in Manayunk is open year round, but what better day than May 4th to have one of their creatively named chicken sandwiches, wraps or \u201cX-wings.\u201d Other pun-tastic menu items<\/a> include \u201cthe Obi-One Wrap,\u201d \u201cthe Thai Fighter,\u201d \u201cthe R2-Rabe Sharp,\u201d and our personal favorite name, \u201cthe C-3Pineapple.\u201d<\/p>\n

Philadelphia Union<\/p>\n

The Major League Soccer franchise is playing Nashville SC in Chester on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and is asking fans to switch out their soccer jerseys and Ben Franklin costumes for Star Wars outfits<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ahead of the game, the Union Yards brew hall in front of the stadium will have a trilogy of non-alcoholic drinks made just for their Star Wars night and a costume contest for adults at 5:45 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Inside the stadium, there will be a kid\u2019s costume contest, for ages 13 and under, in Phangs\u2019 Playground from 6;15 to 6:45 p.m. There will also be an inflatable Millennium Falcon, an AT-AT obstacle course in Subaru Plaza, as well a special on-field presentation at half time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tickets are available on the Union\u2019s website<\/a>, with a deal offering a matching number of Star Wars-themed Union bucket hats<\/a> with the purchase of two or more tickets.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve already complained about the Phillies\u2019 Star Wars night being in June<\/a> this year, but that\u2019s the least of the team\u2019s issues right now.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Wissahickon pub is hosting a \u201cRevenge of the Fifth\u201d trivia night<\/a> on Tuesday May 5 from 8 to 10 p.m., with extra points for showing up in costume and 10% off the bill for anyone who\u2019s playing.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s new brew was a golden lager dubbed Bespin\u2019s Best, named after the gas giant planet that was home to Cloud City. This year, it\u2019s a tropical sour dubbed \u201cthe Mangolorian<\/a>\u201d which they describe as \u201cloaded with ripe, juicy mango and a touch of lactose to keep things smooth as beskar<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Celebrations kick off Thursday with a Star Wars trivia night<\/a>, with costumes strongly encouraged.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. is when the brewery releases the Mangolorian. There will also be a vendor market, Star Wars screenings, Sabbacc<\/a> lessons, live flash tattoos, light saber demonstrations and food and themed drinks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sunday has vendors, food and drink and more Star Wars Trivia at 4 p.m. At 7p.m., there\u2019s a live performance by tribute metal band Galactic Empire<\/a>, which does require a $25 ticket to attend<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Staying in Bucks County, The aptly-named town of New Hope will celebrate with four days of events, running from May 1 to 4. The town goes full Empire on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when there will be members of the Garrison Carida<\/a>, marching around town in full costume.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sixty of the town\u2019s businesses will have discounts for anyone in costume, as well as events and specials, including Sunday quizzo at the Bucks County Playhouse<\/a>, Endor\u2019s Forest\u201d and \u201cSpicy Chewbacca\u201d pizzas at Spatola\u2019s<\/a>, and \u201cMilk the Tubes Be With You\u201d complimentary beer at DOUBLES by Human Robot<\/a><\/p>\n
