{"id":766387,"date":"2026-05-01T17:38:47","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T17:38:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/766387\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T17:38:47","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T17:38:47","slug":"another-broken-egg-cafe-to-make-san-antonio-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/766387\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Broken Egg Cafe to make San Antonio debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of San Antonio\u2019s most popular food trucks is taking a hiatus while it figures out its next steps. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/chichibirds\/?tn-str=k*F\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Chi Chi Birds Hot Chicken<\/a>, known for its spicy sandwiches, says that it is ending its run at Southtown\u2019s Bruno\u2019s Dive Bar and will remain \u201ctemporarily closed until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to give a huge thank you to the Newmans [Jody and Steve], the Bruno\u2019s staff, and all the beautiful people we had the pleasure of meeting at that little dive bar in Southtown. Y\u2019all helped make it feel like home, and we\u2019ll always be grateful for the love and support,\u201d wrote the truck in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXxJJ4LjqoN\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Owner and chef Caleb Lott founded the concept in 2018 as a private, underground \u201crestaurant\u201d in his dad\u2019s backyard, quickly going public as a roving kitchen that popped up at now-shuttered spots like The Squeezebox and Sangria on the Burg.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, he found a brick-and-mortar home at Shenanygans Sports Bar &amp; Lounge on the Northwest Side.\u201cIt was time to move on to something bigger and better,\u201d said Lott at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Chi Chi Birds was one of San Antonio\u2019s first concepts to offer Nashville-style hot chicken \u2014 served in sandwiches, tacos, tenders, mac \u2018n\u2019 cheese bowls, and \u2014 naturally \u2014 on a stick.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the run, Lott has kept his options open, debuting new tacos dorados pop-up <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/restaurants-bars\/pony-boys-porc-slap-popups\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pony Boys<\/a> in October 2025 and frequently collaborating with chef collective Friends of Flavor.
