{"id":766532,"date":"2026-05-01T19:22:44","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T19:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/766532\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T19:22:44","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T19:22:44","slug":"afternoon-briefing-dozens-of-cps-schools-to-attend-may-day-field-trips-and-rallies-chicago-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/766532\/","title":{"rendered":"Afternoon Briefing: Dozens of CPS schools to attend May Day field trips and rallies \u2013 Chicago Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good afternoon, Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago Police Department\u2019s Bureau of Internal Affairs has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2026\/05\/01\/second-suspect-arrested-robbery-police-shooting\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opened an investigation into two officers who searched Alphanso Talley<\/a> last weekend before he was taken to Swedish Hospital, where he allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2026\/05\/01\/what-to-know-chicago-police-officers-shooting-swedish-hospital\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shot<\/a> and killed Officer John Bartholomew and critically wounded his partner.<\/p>\n<p>Sources with knowledge of the investigation confirmed the subjects are two patrol officers assigned to the Albany Park (17th) District who took Talley into custody on April 25 after he allegedly robbed a dollar store. The officers are not the two who were shot. Paperwork on the matter was not immediately made public. Chicago police officials did not comment Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what else is happening today.
