{"id":766673,"date":"2026-05-01T20:48:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T20:48:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/766673\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T20:48:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T20:48:23","slug":"mets-finally-offer-carlos-mendoza-clarity-dont-intend-to-make-a-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/766673\/","title":{"rendered":"Mets finally offer Carlos Mendoza clarity: &#8216;Don&#8217;t intend to make a change&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANAHEIM, Calif. \u2014 The Mets\u2019 last in-season managerial change occurred in this city 18 years ago, but the franchise isn\u2019t ready to repeat that history here or anywhere in the near term.<\/p>\n<p>According to a source, president of baseball operations David Stearns\u00a0has told Carlos Mendoza that his job is safe. <\/p>\n<p>It confirmed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/carlos-mendoza-mets-manager-job-safe-despite-start\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">MLB.com report on Friday<\/a> stating that Stearns and team owner Steve Cohen did not blame Mendoza for the Mets\u2019 dismal start.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more,\u201d Stearns told the outlet. \u201cWe don\u2019t view this as a manager problem, and we don\u2019t intend to make a change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Mets began the day with MLB\u2019s worst record at 10-21. <\/p>\n<p>This included a stretch entering play in which the team lost 15 of 18 games. <\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.42618384;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39254786\" width=\"841\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/new-york-mets-manager-carlos-126678317.jpg\" alt=\"New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza walks back to the dugout during a game.\" class=\"wp-image-39254786\"  \/>Mets manager Carlos Mendoza walks back to the dugout after making a pitching change against the Washington Nationals.
