Draymond Green<\/a> is nothing if not honest, and his latest assessment of where the Warriors\u2019 dynasty stands is no exception.<\/p>\n

Appearing on the “Post Moves” podcast<\/a> with hosts Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston, Green offered his thoughts on Golden State\u2019s run nearing its end and admitted that the departure of a key cog was the first brick to fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cA part of this era ended when Klay [Thompson<\/a>] left,\u201d Green told Parker and Boston, referencing Thompson\u2019s choice to leave<\/a> the Warriors in free agency after the 2023-24 NBA season. \u201cWhen Klay left, [the team was] a little different.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Since Thompson opted to leave, the Warriors have been an NBA play-in tournament team for two consecutive seasons and don\u2019t appear close to championship contention. Though stars like Steph Curry<\/a>, Jimmy Butler<\/a> and Green are still effective, injuries and lackluster drafts have doomed the team in recent years, and Steve Kerr<\/a>\u2019s desire to return as head coach remains in doubt.<\/p>\n

Green maintained a proper perspective, however, and pointed out that what is happening to the Warriors also happened to other all-time great squads.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou look at the dynasties that we\u2019ve all seen \u2026 the Spurs, four years removed from their last championship they were all gone,\u201d Green said. \u201cThe Chicago Bulls \u2026 those guys were gone one year after their last championship, they were done. You look at any of the dynasties, four years \u2026 removed from the last championship, they weren\u2019t still like, \u2018Man, we\u2019ve still got chances to do it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Green also noted that the three biggest figures still in the building \u2014 he, Curry and Kerr \u2014 aren\u2019t fooling themselves when it comes to Golden State\u2019s immediate title chances.<\/p>\n

\u201cA part of this being such a great partnership amongst our ownership group and front office and Steve and Steph and myself, a part of it is also being real,\u201d Green explained. \u201cYou can\u2019t be delusional and think that the partnership is great because there\u2019s going to be someone else on the other side of that partnership like, \u2018Are these f–kers delusional?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAs long as all of us can stay real with where we are in this, then the partnership remains great.\u201d<\/p>\n
