Hurst Police say detectives are investigating at least two alleged incidents of invasive visual recording inside an Aeropostale fitting room.<\/p>\n
The first reported incident on April 24 involved a woman who told police she spotted a camera lens inside a black bag in a fitting room.<\/p>\n
NBC 5 does not identify victims of sexual offenses, but Liz Marin reached out to share her experience.<\/p>\n
Marin, 22, said she went shopping with her sister and after going inside a fitting room to try on some items, she said she noticed what looked like a camera lens.<\/p>\n
\u201cI could see a lens coming through the ripped hole on the bag,\u201d Marin said. \u201cThe first thing that came to my head was to exclaim for help.\u201d<\/p>\n
Marin said she immediately took out her phone and took photos of the black bag, which showed a camera lens visible through a mesh lining.<\/p>\n
Her sister Clarissa Marin, who was in the next fitting room, came over and said she took the camera, a power cord and a battery pack from the black bag and handed them to a Hurst Police officer who had arrived on scene outside North East Mall.<\/p>\n
The sisters then shared their experience on social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, it\u2019s just to spread awareness to the young people out there,\u201d Clarissa Marin said.<\/p>\n
Awareness that Maddie Mayo said she is grateful for.<\/p>\n
Mayo went to Hurst police on Friday after seeing the Marin sisters\u2019 post on TikTok to report that she also noticed a black bag in a fitting room at the same Aeropostale location back on April 3.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had the same experience, but I didn\u2019t notice the camera, so I just thought it was a weird experience, but not anything crazy like what it actually is,\u201d Mayo told NBC-5.<\/p>\n
While no arrests have been made, Hurst Police confirmed detectives are early into an ongoing, and now evolving, investigation with at least two women coming forward.<\/p>\n
Aeropostale has not responded to a request for comment.<\/p>\n
Liz Marin said her sense of safety has been compromised after the incident, but says she feels speaking about her experience will help others.<\/p>\n
