Police were chasing the driver of a possible stolen utility truck that started in West Los Angeles Saturday.<\/p>\n
The slow-moving pursuit began on Pacific Coast Highway shortly after 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop the vehicle after learning that it had been stolen. The suspect began driving erratically, prompting the department to go into tracking mode.<\/p>\n
The chase was then turned over to the California Highway Patrol, who chased the driver through LA County.<\/p>\n
At some point, a spike strip was successfully deployed and three of the vehicle’s tires were affected. Tenacious, the driver continued to trek along in the vehicle, refusing to halt despite remaining at speeds of 4 to 9 mph.<\/p>\n
The driver was seen gesturing wildly and yelling outside his window while driving.<\/p>\n
LAPD Rampart Division spotted the vehicle with flat tires and began following the driver, unaware that CHP was also in pursuit.<\/p>\n
One of the LAPD officers successfully executed a PIT maneuver on Alvarado Street, disabling the large utility truck.<\/p>\n
