SAN DIEGO, Calif. \u2013 <\/strong>The No. 35 UC Santa Barbara Men’s Tennis team saw its 2026 season come to a close Friday afternoon, falling 4-2 to No. 17 San Diego in the opening round of the NCAA Championship at the Hogan Tennis Center.<\/p>\n THE MATCH<\/strong> HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong> The Toreros extended their lead in singles with a straight-set win on court six, as Adrien Berrut defeated Carson Lee<\/a> 6-1, 6-3 to make it 2-0.<\/p>\n UC Santa Barbara responded with a dominant turnaround on court two, where Diogo Morais<\/a> rebounded after dropping the first set to defeat No. 94 Manvydas Balciunas 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 and put the Gauchos on the board. San Diego answered on court one, with No. 19 Oliver Tarvet defeating No. 103 Lucca Liu<\/a> 6-3, 6-4 to push the score to 3-1.<\/p>\n The Gauchos continued to battle, as Miguel Avendano<\/a> delivered a composed three-set victory on court four, rallying past Vincent Marysko 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to narrow the margin to 3-2.
