\n\tAs Deadline exclusively reported earlier today<\/a>, SAG-AFTRA<\/a> and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have nailed down a new contract.<\/p>\n

\n\tOf course, until this is voted on by some 160,000 members of the actors\u2019 guild, everything will remain tentative for the time being. Yet, with AI protections, a four-year agreement and a bumping up of the guild pension fund now semi-written-in-stone, this agreement with undoubtedly follow getting an approval just like the recent WGA one did<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement<\/a>, the guild noted the deal is now heading to its national board for review, which will meet in the coming days to go over terms. Per procedure, specific details will not be revealed in advance of the review.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP<\/a> have reached a tentative agreement on terms for a successor contract to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA TV\/Theatrical Contracts covering motion pictures, scripted primetime dramatic television, streaming content and new media,\u201d SAG-AFTRA said in a statement posted to its website.<\/p>\n

\n\tNegotiations began Feb. 9 and recessed March 15 to make way for the WGA\u2019s earlier deal<\/a>. Talks resumed April 27<\/a> and concluded May 2.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs we reported earlier, labor<\/a> sources told us SAG-AFTRA has received a \u201csizable\u201d contribution to its pension fund from the AMPTP. This follows the WGA, which similarly agreed to an extended-length contract with the studios and streamers last month in its own negotiations, accepting a multi-million contribution to its ailing healthcare plan. As with the WGA, there were a series of AI \u201cguardrail\u201d measures put in place between the SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP parties.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe news comes after\u00a0last week\u2019s resumption of talks<\/a>\u00a0between SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, after the guild had previously\u00a0paused negotiations to make way for the WGA in March<\/a>. Both guild and union sources had told Deadline that they were not far off from a deal, but a few key issues \u2014 including regarding AI measures \u2014 still needed to be ironed out.<\/p>\n

\n\tNext up, it\u2019ll be the DGA\u2019s turn, as the Christopher Nolan-led organization is planning to sit down with the AMPTP May 11.<\/p>\n
