The Colorado Rapids\u00a0(4-6-1, 13 pts., 9th\u00a0West)\u00a0fell on the road to Houston Dynamo FC (5-5-0 15 pts., 8th\u00a0West) 1-0 on Saturday night at Shell\u00a0Energy Stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Heading into\u00a0their\u00a0second match against the Dynamo this season,\u00a0the Rapids were\u00a0looking to recreate their\u00a0first\u00a0performance\u00a0against Houston that resulted in a 6-2 victory\u00a0at DICK\u2019S Sporting Goods Park.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The first half of Saturday night\u2019s match\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0see much action on either end, with both sides playing strong defense.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Rapids\u00a0maintained\u00a0a majority of\u00a0the possession in the match, leaving Houston with little to no opportunity to create any meaningful attacks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The two sides went into the halftime break scoreless, looking to break the ice wo sides in the final 45 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Colorado came out of halftime with an instant attacking opportunity. Combination\u00a0play\u00a0from Darren\u00a0Yapi and Dante Sealy\u00a0led to the club\u2019s best chance up to that point in the\u00a0night,\u00a0but the shot\u00a0was just saved by the Dynamo goalkeeper.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite the Rapids getting more chances in the final third than they did in the first half, it was the Dynamo who would get on the board first in the\u00a072nd\u00a0minute.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Following a corner kick, the ball rolled out to\u00a0Lawrence\u00a0Ennali, who sent in a strike to put his side up 1-0.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Colorado\u00a0attempted\u00a0to adjust with a trio of substitutes,\u00a0looking for some\u00a0additional\u00a0reinforcements to the attack.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
While they created chances to equalize, the\u00a0Rapids\u00a0were unable to find the back of the net, leaving the home side with all three points.\u00a0<\/p>\n
