Something Green, the grab-and-go concept that opened in the neighborhood in late 2025, has added a kosher certification for part of its menu—and while it’s not a full-blown kosher restaurant, it’s worth knowing about if you’re in the area.

What’s Actually Kosher Here

The hashgacha under Rabbi Mehlman of NKS (National Kosher Supervision) covers beverages and grab-and-go items. And these are not just chips and a bottle of water—the grab-and-go selection includes full meals prepared fresh daily. Think poke bowls, salmon wraps, noodle bowls, and hearty salads. The made-to-order items customized on the spot are not under certification, but if you’re grabbing something from their daily pre-made selection, you can eat a real kosher lunch here.

The NKS supervision under Rabbi Mehlman gives it solid standing, and the Shomer Shabbat ownership adds meaningful context about how the place is run.

About Something Green

Something Green is a Brooklyn-born concept focused on clean eating at accessible prices. The menu is built around freshly made bowls, wraps, salads, and smoothies, all prepared daily with non-GMO ingredients and no harmful oils. Popular items include a Poke The Bowl with spicy tuna and avocado over brown rice, a Salmon Teriyaki Noodle Bowl, a Kale Tempeh Salad, and an acai bowl. The vibe is fast, fresh, and health-forward—a notch above the typical grab-and-go counter.

The space is counter-service and takeout-friendly, with online ordering available and delivery on the major apps. Catering is also available through ezCater.

Worth Knowing Before You Go

Just know what’s certified and what’s not before you go. The pre-made grab-and-go meals and beverages are under hashgacha. If someone makes your wrap or bowl fresh to order on the spot, that’s not certified. Stick to the daily grab-and-go selection and you’re good. It’s one of the few certified options in that stretch of Flatiron, and with Shomer Shabbat ownership and Saturday closures, this is a legitimately kosher-conscious operation.

Something Green is located at 41 West 23rd Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, New York, NY 10010. Kosher certification covers beverages and pre-packaged grab-and-go items only, under Rabbi Mehlman of NKS (National Kosher Supervision). Freshly prepared food items are not certified kosher. Closed Saturdays.
