\n\tDirector of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard<\/a>, the former Democratic lawmaker who has since turned MAGA, is helping her boss President Donald Trump<\/a> try to rewrite the history of 2016 to match his preferred talking points.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Friday, Gabbard called for<\/a> the Obama administration to be \u201cprosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,\u201d alleging a \u201cconspiracy\u201d by which officials \u201cmanufactured\u201d intelligence to claim that Russia interfered in the 2016 election<\/a> to boost Trump\u2019s presidential campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tMultiple investigations over the past eight years have found that Russia tried to undermine Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and bolster Trump, by leaking documents<\/a> from the Democratic National Committee. The 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment, published during Trump\u2019s first term, found that Russia meddled in the election<\/a> specifically to boost Trump\u2019s campaign. These findings have helped foster Trump\u2019s grudge against the intel community and the \u201cdeep state.\u201d Trump has long called \u201cRussiagate\u201d a hoax.<\/p>\n

\n\tGabbard, her press release<\/a> claims,<\/a> declassified documents<\/a> that \u201crevealed overwhelming evidence\u201d allegedly showing Obama and national security officials \u201cmanufactured and politicized intelligence to lay the groundwork for what was essentially a years-long coup against President Trump.\u201d It\u2019s an ironic claim given that Trump supporters actually did attempt a coup on Jan. 6, and he pardoned them<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Obama administration\u2019s \u201cgoal was to usurp President Trump and subvert the will of the American people,\u201d Gabbard posted on X<\/a>. \u201cNo matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The integrity of our democratic republic depends on it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tShe added that the documents will be turned over to the Department of Justice for criminal referral.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThese allegations arrive while Trump is in the spotlight over his ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tSen. Mark Warner of Virginia, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a statement that an investigation already found that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Senate Intel Committee unanimously concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 election,\u201d he said in a post on X<\/a>. \u201cIf there had been some Obama conspiracy, we would have found it. This latest lie is another sad, dangerous example of Tulsi Gabbard trying to rewrite history and erode trust in the [intelligence community].\u201d<\/p>\n
