Ruston<\/a><\/strong> (La.) five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson<\/a><\/strong> announced his commitment to LSU<\/a><\/strong> on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

He chose the Tigers over Nebraska in a major in-state recruiting victory for Lane Kiffin<\/a><\/strong> and Co.<\/p>\n

Hudson is the No. 16 overall prospect and top-ranked tight end in the 2027 cycle, according to the\u00a0Rivals Industry Ranking<\/a><\/strong>, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He\u2019s also the No. 4 player in Louisiana.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder also doubles as an elite basketball recruit. He\u2019s currently the No. 25 prospect and No. 4 center in the nation. <\/p>\n

It ultimately came down to the local SEC program and Nebraska for Hudson. He was originally eyeing a July decision, but opted not to waste anymore time and surprised everyone with a surprise commitment on Sunday.<\/p>\n

LSU has always been at the top of his recruitment and that didn\u2019t change despite the coaching staff changes. Kiffin and the new-look Tigers have now landed a humongous pledge.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you speak to a head coach, it shows how much they care about you,\u201d Hudson previously told Rivals\u2019 Sam Spiegelman<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cCoach Kiffin was texting me before the state championship game, wishing me good luck. Not a lot of people like that have the time to really do that, so that shows that he took time out of his busy day as the head coach of Louisiana State University to wish me good luck. It\u2019s just different.\u201d<\/p>\n

Offensive playcaller\u00a0Charlie Weis Jr.<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and position coach\u00a0Joe Cox<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0have also been instrumental in LSU\u2019s push for Hudson, who becomes just the fifth overall commit for the Tigers this cycle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey made a great impression, per usual,\u201d Hudson said. \u201cReally, just the communication skills have picked up a lot lately. Talking to some important people like Coach Weis and Coach Kiffin every other day has really helped a lot \u2026 They just picked up the pace like they needed to, and they\u2019re sitting in a really good spot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever gets me will get the Ahmad the world has yet to see,\u201d Hudson said. <\/p>\n

Hudson also becomes the top-ranked commit in LSU\u2019s 2027 class, which entered the day at No. 12 and now ranks No. 7 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He\u2019s the second five-star in the class, flanking Irmo (S.C.) EDGE Jaiden Bryant<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
