WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas (CNN) – Police in Texas were forced to get creative, using jumper cables as a lifeline to save a mother from raging floodwaters.<\/p>\n
Officers with the White Settlement Police Department responded last Saturday night to reports of a woman and three kids in a car that was trapped in rushing floodwaters. <\/p>\n
Responding officers found the car trapped in a canal that runs toward a creek. Rescuers got the three kids to safety, but their mother was stuck in the front of the car, which was teetering toward the water.<\/p>\n
\u201cI need something to get wrapped around her,\u201d an officer said in body camera footage.<\/p>\n
So, a quick-thinking officer grabbed a pair of jumper cables to use as an improvised lifeline. The mother was told to anchor herself with the cables in case she was swept away.<\/p>\n
Fire officials soon arrived and pulled the car back onto the road.<\/p>\n
None of the four family members were harmed in the incident.<\/p>\n
Since then, all city patrol vehicles have been ordered to be equipped with a water rescue throw bag.<\/p>\n
