{"id":772783,"date":"2026-05-04T14:52:33","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T14:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/772783\/"},"modified":"2026-05-04T14:52:33","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T14:52:33","slug":"star-wars-day-fans-streamed-franchise-for-33-billion-minutes-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/772783\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Star Wars&#8217; Day: Fans Streamed Franchise for 33 Billion Minutes 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Force is strong with this one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn honor of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/star-wars\/\" id=\"auto-tag_star-wars\" data-tag=\"star-wars\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Star Wars<\/a>\u201d Day, Nielsen has shared some insights into people\u2019s viewing habits around the beloved franchise, which show that it remains incredibly popular nearly 50 years after it began. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPer Nielsen data, U.S. viewers viewed 33 billion minutes (equivalent to 550 million hours) of \u201cStar Wars\u201d content across linear TV and streaming in 2025. <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/disney-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney-2\" data-tag=\"disney-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney+<\/a> serves as the streaming home to all things \u201cStar Wars,\u201d with the Mouse House having acquired the franchise in 2012. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe \u201cStar Wars\u201d films accounted for the biggest share of the viewing at 44.2%. The live-action shows made up 38.9%, while \u201cStar Wars\u201d animated projects accounted for 16.8%. Documentaries about the franchise accounted for just 0.2% of all viewing. \u201cA New Hope\u201d was the most viewed title, followed by \u201cThe Phantom Menace\u201d and then \u201cRogue One.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/andor\/\" id=\"auto-tag_andor\" data-tag=\"andor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andor<\/a>\u201d was the most-viewed live-action series with 7.4 billion minutes, boosted by the fact the show released its highly-anticipated second season between April and May 2025. It made the Nielsen Top 10 Streaming Originals chart for six weeks straight in that time. After \u201cAndor,\u201d \u201cSkeleton Crew\u201d and \u201cThe Mandalorian\u201d were the most-viewed shows. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-variety-2020\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.gif\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Nielsen-Star-Wars-Day-01.png\" alt=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNielsen also broke down data for May the 4th, 2025, during which fans viewed 637 million minutes (or 10.6 million hours) of \u201cStar Wars\u201d content altogether. \u201cAndor\u201d was the most-viewed \u201cStar Wars\u201d title that day, again not surprising given that it was releasing new episodes at the time.
