A\u2019ja Wilson, regarded by many as one of the best female basketball players of her generation<\/a> and one of the greatest WNBA players ever<\/a>, achieved another first this evening. Wilson made her Met Gala debut on Monday night. The four-time WNBA MVP arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, dressed for the \u201cCostume Art<\/a>\u201d theme in a textured, metallic gown with draped sleeves by Prabal Gurung.<\/p>\n

WNBA fans are already familiar with Wilson\u2019s love for fashion and her stylish looks in what have become known as \u201ctunnel fits,\u201d the high-fashion, curated outfits that athletes wear while walking from the team bus to the locker room. Wilson recently talked to Vogue<\/a> about how tunnel fits help promote the WNBA in a new way. \u201cTunnel \u2019fits changed our whole league,\u201d she said. \u201cIt brought a different audience and set of eyes to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

That said, Wilson, a three-time WNBA champion with the Las Vegas Aces, never forgets her priorities. \u201cThere\u2019s plenty of times where I\u2019ve told my stylist, \u2018I ain\u2019t doing this. I need to pour into this scouting report before I put on a pair of heels,\u2019\u201d she told the magazine. \u201cPeople should understand how powerful it is to walk into a game in heels, crush it, and put those heels back on. That is so powerful. That is women and I love that for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson is also a member of the 2026 Met Gala host committee, making this the second year in a row that a WNBA player is on the committee, followed by Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese<\/a> in 2025. Last year\u2019s guest list also included New York Liberty players Jonquel Jones, Sabrina Ionescu, and Breanna Stewart.<\/p>\n
