{"id":773786,"date":"2026-05-05T01:06:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T01:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/773786\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T01:06:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T01:06:14","slug":"dozens-of-central-texas-residents-file-suit-against-spacex-alleging-terrestrial-bombardment-resulting-in-property-damage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/773786\/","title":{"rendered":"Dozens of Central Texas residents file suit against SpaceX alleging \u2018terrestrial bombardment\u2019 resulting in property damage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\"><b>WACO, Texas (KWTX) &#8211; <\/b><\/a> Almost 80 Central Texas residents who allege their homes have been damaged by SpaceX\u2019s \u201cdaily barrage of terrestrial bombardment\u201d are suing Elon Musk\u2019s aerospace company in McGregor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The 77 plaintiffs, residents of McGregor, Moody, Crawford and Oglesby, collectively are seeking more than $1 million in damages in their lawsuit, filed Friday in Waco\u2019s 414th State District Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The lawsuit alleges gross negligence and trespass and claims that regular rocket testing by SpaceX\u201c continues to physically, intentionally, and voluntarily cause massive airborne acoustic pressure waves and ground-borne seismic shockwaves to physically enter and invade Plaintiffs\u2019 properties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">SpaceX did not respond to an email seeking comment on the lawsuit, which was filed the same week as a federal lawsuit in the U.S. Southern District of Texas in which 80 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwtx.com\/2026\/05\/02\/south-texas-residents-suing-spacex-over-alleged-home-damage\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kwtx.com\/2026\/05\/02\/south-texas-residents-suing-spacex-over-alleged-home-damage\/\">South Texas residents claim their homes were damaged by \u201cmassive\u201d sonic booms from the SpaceX facility in South Texas.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Both lawsuits were filed by the Martinez and Tijerina law firm in Brownsville. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cPlaintiffs are innocent bystanders caught in the blast radius of SpaceX\u2019s industrial ambitions,\u201d the lawsuit alleges. \u201c\u2026The continuous shaking and acoustic resonance have caused severe, escalating property damage across these communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The plaintiffs\u2019 homes are \u201cliterally cracking under the pressure, suffering from fractured foundations, differential settlement and compromised structural integrity\u201d due to the rocket tests, the lawsuit claims.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cBeyond this gradual degradation, SpaceX\u2019s explosive testing anomalies have caused acute trauma including glass doors violently shattered by sudden blast waves,\u201d the suit alleges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to the lawsuit, the 4,000-acre SpaceX industrial complex in McGregor is \u201cfar from a mere research outpost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cSpaceX has transformed the McGregor site into an integrated mass-production and testing hub, recognized by aerospace observers as the world\u2019s most active rocket engine test facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt is here that SpaceX manufactures and rigorously qualifies its legacy Merlin engines and its next-generation Raptor engines at an unprecedented, industrial scale,\u201d the suit states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Unlike SpaceX\u2019s orbital launch facilities in South Texas or Florida, rockets don\u2019t lift off at the McGregor facility. Instead, the site operates as a static fire engine proving ground, the lawsuit contends.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The lawsuit alleges the Raptor 3 engines exceed 600,000 pounds of thrust during testing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cBecause the engines are rigidly tethered to the earth, this unprecedented kinetic and acoustic energy cannot be expended by lifting a vehicle into the atmosphere,\u201d according to the lawsuit. \u201cInstead, it is driven violently outward through two destructive pathways: as a concussive, airborne acoustic wave that batters above-ground structures, and as a sustained, ground-borne seismic tremor that physically shakes the subterranean foundations of neighboring homes.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KWTX.
