The Super Bowl of fashion is living up to its moniker so far. <\/p>\n

The Met Gala is officially underway as A-list actors, global pop stars and tech titans alike grace the Metropolitan Museum\u2019s grand staircase. The gala\u2019s theme, \u201cCostume Art,\u201d honors the Costume Institute\u2019s spring exhibition on the role of the dressed body in the history of art. The show inaugurates the new 12,000-square-foot Cond\u00e9 M. Nast Galleries.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s abstract dress code, \u201cFashion Is Art,\u201d encourages guests to treat the body as a canvas and \u201cto express their own relationship to fashion as an embodied art form.\u201d So if there ever were a time to wear an archival John Galliano naked dress or a Thom Browne body paint gown, it\u2019s now. <\/p>\n

Co-chaired by Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, Anna Wintour and Beyonc\u00e9, the latter returning to the gala after a 10-year hiatus, the event \u2014 an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art\u2019s Costume Institute \u2014 will be a night of sartorial excellence.<\/p>\n
