What about other automakers? Here’s what we know.

Updated May 4, 2026: Latest on Hyundai, more.

Next-gen CarPlay brands

In December 2023, Apple said that Porsche and Aston Martin would be the first automakers to support next-generation CarPlay starting in 2024. That deadline came and went, and Apple confirmed in January that next-gen CarPlay had been delayed but was still in development.

Apple doesn’t offer a timeline on when CarPlay Ultra will actually be available through any other brand beyond Aston Martin. The company also does not have a dedicated list of automakers that have signed on to support CarPlay Ultra listed on its website.

When Apple announced the next-generation version of CarPlay at WWDC 2022, however, it stated that several brands had committed to supporting the platform. In May of last year, Apple touted that three new partners had signed on: Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis.

However, several brands have also dropped their plans to support CarPlay Ultra. Mercedes-Benz was originally on Apple’s list, but abandoned its plans to support next-generation CarPlay in 2024. According to the Financial Times, Audi, Volvo, Polestar, and Renault have also decided against supporting CarPlay Ultra, despite originally being touted as partners by Apple.

With all of that said, here is the full list of automakers who plan to eventually support CarPlay Ultra, as of April 2026.

Acura

Aston Martin

Ford

Genesis

Honda

Hyundai

Infiniti

Jaguar

Kia

Land Rover

Lincoln

Nissan

Porsche

What do we know beyond this list? Not a whole lot.

Hyundai’s plans

According to rumors from publication Top Gear, Hyundai’s upcoming IONIQ 3 EV is said to support CarPlay Ultra. Mark Gurman at Bloomberg recently reported CarPlay Ultra will launch for “least one major new Hyundai/Kia model in the second half of this year.”

Hyundai announced the IONIQ 3 in April, but has not commented on whether the vehicle will support CarPlay Ultra as rumors suggested.

Whether or not this pans out remains to be seen. If it does, however, it would mark a notable expansion of CarPlay Ultra. The IONIQ 3 is expected to start at around £25,000 ($33,700). That is far more affordable than the $200,000 you’d pay for an Aston Martin.

Ford’s plans

While Apple has touted Ford as a partner for CarPlay Ultra, the automaker recently signaled it’s not too impressed with the first version of a platform.

In a recent interview, Ford CEO Jim Farley was asked whether the company is “considering” CarPlay Ultra support. Here’s what he said:

“We are. We don’t like the execution in round 1 of Ultra, but we’re very committed to Apple. I’ve talked to Tim many times about this.”

It’s better than a flat “no,” but perhaps not the enthusiasm Ford drivers might have hoped to hear.

Wrap up

The question at this point is whether any other automakers have ditched CarPlay Ultra. Ideally, Apple will provide a full list sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, this is the only information we have.

Learn more about everything new with CarPlay Ultra in our dedicated coverage.

My favorite CarPlay accessories

Follow Chance: Threads, Bluesky, Instagram, and Mastodon.

FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links. More.

Last year, Apple officially announced CarPlay Ultra, the next-generation version of CarPlay that it first teased way back…

[7
158,67,132,68
0":"post-774180","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-technology","8":"tag-technology","9":"tag-united-states","10":"tag-unitedstates","11":"tag-us
["GET
