Radio ’47 is an immersive, improvised theater experience where the audience travels back in time to 1947 and becomes the studio audience at station KBRD for a live radio drama- only this one will have you laughing. The new, fright-filled program is entitled The Dark Attic and is a far cry from the kid’s westerns they’ve done for the past eight months! Begins Friday, May 8, 2026, at Mockingbird Improv in Liberty Station, NTC Arts District.<\/p>\n
Produced and directed by Peter Jacques, Radio ’47 features an ensemble cast of 9 improvisers in costume, on mic and using props, with live sound effects and music from the era. Although the performers are following the format and tropes of old radio horror- this show is played for laughs.<\/p>\n
“Westerns are nice but they get old after a while and now the players at KBRD are ready to take things to the dark side with The Dark Attic, ” says director, Peter Jacques. “It is the same radio employee characters from before but now dealing with a format change ordered by the station. The gold, as always, is in the mistakes. It is like the Goes Wrong Show meets a Vincent Price<\/a> movie.”<\/p>\n ]]>
