Bass&#8217; handling of the fire has eventually led Spencer Pratt, reality TV personality and Palisades Fire victim, to challenge the mayor. <\/p>\n<p>Another surprise for Bass: just hours before filing deadline, LA Councilmember Nithya Raman decided to run for mayor and challenge Bass &#8212; someone whom Raman endorsed a few weeks prior. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/GettyImages-1245549175.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7650815 size-full\"\/><br \/>\nKaren Bass<\/p>\n<p>Bass is\u00a0a woman of many firsts: the first woman to become LA mayor, the first Black woman to be a speaker of the California State Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>While critics may want to replace Bass with someone else over the handling of the wildfire, Bass is a seasoned politician who has never lost an election. And because Bass has years of experience in community organizing, it may be too soon to count her out.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1778038644_631_GettyImages-2258667497.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11265634 size-full\"\/><br \/>\nSpencer Pratt<\/p>\n<p>Pratt, a Republican candidate, calls himself a media entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p>He lost the home he shares with his wife Heidi Montag, another reality TV show personality, in the Pacific Palisades in the deadly wildfire.
