{"id":776597,"date":"2026-05-06T05:47:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T05:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/776597\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T05:47:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T05:47:21","slug":"barry-diller-wants-to-buy-cnn-before-they-ruin-it-any-further-hopefully-before-its-extinct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/776597\/","title":{"rendered":"Barry Diller Wants To Buy CNN &#8220;Before They Ruin It Any Further&#8221;: &#8220;Hopefully Before It&#8217;s Extinct&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/barry-diller\/\" id=\"auto-tag_barry-diller\" data-tag=\"barry-diller\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barry Diller<\/a> is weighing in on <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/cnn\/\" id=\"auto-tag_cnn\" data-tag=\"cnn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CNN<\/a> and is open to buying the news organization before it\u2019s too late to salvage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDuring an appearance at The Wall Street Journal\u2019s Future of Everything Festival, Diller made the bold claim about the news network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cAbsolutely, I would do it tonight and tomorrow night,\u201d he said, according to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/media\/barry-diller-says-he-would-buy-cnn-tonight-cf5a229f\">TWSJ<\/a>. \u201cBefore they ruin it any further. Hopefully, before it\u2019s extinct, which, I mean, it\u2019s not gonna be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDiller added that CNN is \u201cso ripe\u201d for innovation and noted that they have invested in becoming a digital property, but he thinks it needs more investment in its on-air programming.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cSo how they do that and navigate also running the surviving businesses\u2026I don\u2019t know,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCNN is currently owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/02\/massive-merger-confirmed-paramount-and-wbd-reveal-details-1236738785\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paramount agreeing to buy and merge<\/a> the company in an $81 billion deal. If the merger goes through, Diller noted that the cuts will be a \u201csavage process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDiller is familiar with restructuring and layoffs, as his Interactive Corp.
