\n\tDwayne Johnson<\/a> is opening up about his decision to wear a skirt as part of his look for the 2026 Met Gala<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Moana actor made his debut at fashion<\/a>\u2018s biggest night, wearing a custom all-black Thom Browne ensemble<\/a> that featured a mohair tailcoat, white vest and a pleated skirt over trousers. He walked the carpet alongside his wife, Lauren Hashian, who was wearing a white halter-neck dress by the designer.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked about his look<\/a> by reporters, Johnson said it was in part inspired by his Polynesian culture, where \u201cthe most masculine men wear skirts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel great!\u201d he replied. \u201cFirst, [Thom Browne<\/a>\u2019s team] sent the illustrations over and [asked], \u2018Hey, is DJ going to be cool with this pleated skirt?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Look, in our culture, Polynesian culture, we rock lavalavas, we rock skirts.\u2019 The most masculine men, not that I\u2019m one of them, but the most masculine men wear lavalavas and skirts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere on the carpet, the Jumanji actor was asked by The Hollywood Reporter if he\u2019s the art or the artist, as this year\u2019s theme was \u201cCostume Art.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe said he was chatting with his friend and fellow actor Colman Domingo, who was also in attendance at New York\u2019s Metropolitan Museum of Art, about \u201cwhat this is is the beauty of art, and sometimes it\u2019s a walking expression of art, and I could feel that. So am I the art or the artist? I think I\u2019m both, and maybe that\u2019s a cool place to be in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe dress code for the 2026 Met Gala was \u201cFashion\u00a0Is Art,\u201d while this year\u2019s exhibition, \u201cCostume Art,\u201d examined \u201cthe centrality of the dressed body throughout time and culture, juxtaposing garments and works of art from across the Museum\u2019s vast collection to create pairings that highlight the indivisible connection between clothing and the body,\u201d according to the official descriptions.<\/p>\n

\n\tBeyonc\u00e9, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour served as this year\u2019s co-chairs, while Jeff Bezos and Lauren S\u00e1nchez Bezos were the honorary chairs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
