Box Score<\/a> TALLAHASSEE, Fla<\/strong> —- Jacksonville University baseball\u00a0fell in a tightly contested battle with #14 Florida State Tuesday night, 5-2.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the final midweek game of the regular season, JU led for five innings after scoring both runs in the third inning, but ultimately saw the lead slip away.<\/p>\n Ben-Baker Livingston put on a solid performance in his third midweek start, tossing four innings, striking out two, while only allowing five hits and two earned runs.<\/p>\n The Dolphins opened the scoring in the third. With one out, Cade Walter<\/a> was hit by his 22nd pitch of the year, the second most in the ASUN. Sammy Mummau<\/a> pushed him into scoring position two pitches later with a single through the right side, extending his on base streak to 17.<\/p>\n Roger Vergara<\/a> flew out and moved Walter to third, where much like the last time out In Tallahassee, Walter was able to score on a wild pitch during a Bermudez at-bat.\u00a0Derek Bermudez<\/a> maneuvered his way into a 3-1 hitter’s count, where he drove a single to right field, plating Mummau and extending the Dolphins lead to two.\u00a0 In the fourth, JU put runners on first and second following an Abdriel Delgado<\/a> walk and a Logan Baratta<\/a> single, the freshman’s second in as many at bats.\u00a0Cade Walter<\/a> walked to load the bases, but despite the early offense, the Dolphins were unable to capitalize.<\/p>\n Again in the bottom half of the fourth, Ben-Baker Livingston was able to pick his way out of a bases-loaded jam. The Dolphins were able to limit the damage after Logan Hartman<\/a> came into pitch and struck out two Florida State batters, leaving three runners stranded for the ‘Noles.
