Ronnie Ortiz-Magro broke his silence about his \u201cmental health struggles\u201d after he appeared to nod off during a cast interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to start by saying thank you to everyone who has reached out and shown support,\u201d the \u201cJersey Shore\u201d star wrote on his Instagram Stories Tuesday. <\/p>\n

\u201cI really appreciate all of the fans sharing their stories of mental health struggles with me. It shows that we are not alone,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

Ortiz-Magro, 40, said that though \u201ceverything may look perfect on the outside,\u201d he is battling with \u201cdepression<\/a>, bipolar and anxiety in silence.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWhile there are prescription medications that I take to help me manage symptoms, and l participate in weekly therapy, etc. unfortunately, and as others in similar situations can attest, these are ongoing measures and not a finite\/permanent cure,\u201d he penned.<\/p>\n

The reality star said he has \u201ctried very hard\u201d not to let his symptoms impact how he shows up for his \u201cJersey Shore\u201d family and the fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast week, what you saw during that interview<\/a> was evidence ot my ongoing struggle. Some recent emotional events had begun to wear on me,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Ortiz-Magro said the medication he takes can have side effects and that he can usually \u201cwork through\u201d them in private.<\/p>\n

\u201cWanting to be with my castmates for a press tour celebration at the same time as carrying this weight required me to work through the effects in a public setting; as a result, I was taped nodding off, which started rumors and accusations,\u201d the MTV star wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cI thought I could be strong enough to get through it, but what you saw was me trying to battle through one of my toughest moments. I pushed myself to try to show up for other people when I just needed to show up for myself,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ortiz-Magro said this moment has taught him to put his mental health \u201cfirst\u201d and to \u201cprioritize\u201d his own care \u201cno matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means the world to me that everyone has rallied for me and has seen past the rumors,\u201d he penned.<\/p>\n

While promoting the ninth and final season of \u201cJersey Shore: Family Vacation\u201d last month, a video of Ortiz-Magro appearing to nod off while slouching during a SiriusXM interview with his castmates went viral.<\/p>\n

Mike \u201cThe Situation\u201d Sorrentino took to social media, saying his heart was \u201cheavy\u201d<\/a> seeing what his co-star \u201cchose to present during press.\u201d <\/p>\n

Sorrentino, 43, told his followers he \u201creached out\u201d to \u201ccheck on\u201d Ortiz-Magro, but was waiting to hear back.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he is willing, I will be there for him. My heart is with anyone who is struggling,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
