Aims Community College students will show off their artistic creations on the big screen later this week at the Aims Film and Animation Showcase.<\/p>\n
The lineup spans genres from comedy and action to drama, suspense and imaginative animated storytelling. Many of the works shown in the showcase were developed in hands-on courses emphasizing both technical proficiency and creative storytelling.<\/p>\n
Screenings will take place 2-4 p.m Friday, May 8 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at the Ed Beaty Hall Theater, 5203 W. 20th St., in Greeley. The event is free and open to the public, and each day features the same show.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a very fun, collaborative event,\u201d animation student Marcus Everitt said in a news release<\/a>. \u201cYou get to meet new people that have the same interests and you get to kind of grow together in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n The showcase features roughly 50-60 submissions with short runtimes.<\/p>\n \u201cThe longest ones might be 5 minutes. I think we had one film piece that was 8 minutes last year, and that would be long,\u201d said Brian Dunning, a professor of graphic design and rich media at Aims.<\/p>\n Aims\u2019 animation program launched in 2004 and in 2024, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of it, the community college put on a film and animation showcase.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a way to showcase student work from our two different departments: graphic design and rich media and communication media,\u201d Dunning said.<\/p>\n
