It is scheduled to begin filming this fall, ahead of the Christmas premiere of Season 1, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/jon-brown\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jon-brown\" data-tag=\"jon-brown\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jon Brown<\/a> (HBO\u2019s Succession), who is a writer on the first season, has been elevated to co-showrunner for Season 2 alongside Season 1 showrunner Francesca Gardiner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe renewal comes as Season 1 is still filming, with production slated to wrap in a couple of weeks. It was fully expected \u2014 and so was its timing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>RELATED: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/feature\/2026-tv-premiere-dates-1236391902\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1236391902\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>2026 Premiere Dates For New &amp; Returning Series On Broadcast, Streaming &amp; Cable<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCasey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/11\/harry-potter-season-2-writing-begins-hbo-series-1236624977\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">revealed in Novembe<\/a>r that writing on the second season already had started.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThe plan is to still try and get it \u2014 I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s going to be like stop shooting Season 1 on Friday and start Season 2 on Monday,\u201d he said at the time of the projected timeline. \u201cThere\u2019ll be a break in there, but we\u2019re going to do whatever we can to not have a huge gap.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe laid out the rationale, referencing the fact that the series stars young actors who grow up fast and that by nature, the show is very elaborate and involves a complex shoot and extensive postproduction. \u201cFor the kids, obviously, but also for viewers, trying to not have massive gaps [between seasons],\u201d he said at the time. \u201cIt is a big show, lots of special effects, obviously. Not only do I have huge admiration for his writing, but he\u2019s also a brilliant collaborator and a lovely person.
