The cause of death of Sir Richard Branson\u2019s late wife, Joan, has been revealed.<\/p>\n
The Virgin Records founder announced the heartbreaking news of Lady Joan\u2019s\u00a0death<\/a> in November, but didn\u2019t give any further details.<\/p>\n A pre-inquest hearing, however, has revealed Joan died from a blood clot on Nov. 24, 2025, stemming from a fall-induced back injury she sustained two weeks earlier, according to the Mirror.<\/a><\/p>\n Sir Richard Branson\u2019s late wife, Joan, died from a blood clot after she suffered a back injury, a pre-inquest hearing revealed. richardbranson\/Instagram<\/p>\n Joan was 80 years old. Richard Young \/ Shutterstock<\/p>\n At the hearing, Richard and Joan\u2019s daughter, Holly, said the family wasn\u2019t looking to blame anyone for her mom\u2019s death, per the outlet.<\/p>\n \u201cI believe mum had great care,\u201d she said. \u201cThe doctors saved her life three years ago, giving us all three more years together. We just want to help other families if there are any lessons to be learned.\u201d<\/p>\n In Richard\u2019s Instagram post sharing that Joan had died, he called her \u201cthe most wonderful mum and grandmum our kids and grandkids could have ever wished for.\u201d<\/p>\n Richard and Joan had been married since 1989.
