Eric Cerantola became the 72nd player in Mississippi State history to be called up to the Major Leagues on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The Kansas City Royals called up the 26-year-old reliever from Triple-A and could make his MLB debut as early as Wednesday night’s game against the Cleveland Guardians at 6:40 p.m.<\/p>\n
Cerantola has been splendid through a dozen appearances with Omaha this season, sporting a 1-0 record, five saves and a 1.42 earned run average with 18 strikeouts across 12 2\/3 innings. He also pitched for Team Canada during the World Baseball Classic in March.<\/p>\n
The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder from Oakville, Ontario lettered for the Diamond Dawgs from 2019-21 where he appeared in 25 games and made a dozen starts. He finished his college career with a 4-2 record, 4.41 ERA, 67 strikeouts and 33 walks across 49 total innings.<\/p>\n
Cerantola was a fifth-round draft pick by Kansas City in 2021 coming off the heels of helping MSU claim its first national championship. He is the first Bulldog to make it #FromStateToTheShow since Jake Mangum on March 29, 2025.<\/p>\n
State currently has nine players on MLB rosters following Justin Foscue being recalled by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
