SAN ANTONIO – Robyn Argote-Brooks appeared in federal court today as attorneys moved forward with jury selection in the morning and testimony began soon after.<\/p>\n
Argote-Brooks is charged with two counts of damaging government vehicles and one count of endangering a federal officer.<\/p>\n
The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 13 in the parking lot of the Walmart along Blanco Road near Wurzbach Parkway. Authorities said Argote-Brooks rammed his car into two ICE vehicles. He eventually got out of the car and was swarmed by ICE agents.<\/p>\n
No cameras were allowed in court today.<\/p>\n
One witness who testified was Jabari Butler, one of the officers involved in the January incident. Butler was the officer who made initial contact with Argote-Brooks at the time. He described law enforcement procedures leading up to the incident, testifying that Argote-Brooks was acting suspiciously and taking pictures of families in a Walmart parking lot.<\/p>\n
Butler also testified about how the situation escalated between Argote-Brooks and other ICE officers who arrived on scene.<\/p>\n
