The private university will hold college-specific academic convocations May 5, 8 and 9, during which graduates will hear their names called and walk across the stage. On May 8, all graduating students are invited to an evening commencement that will include speeches, tossing caps and fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>Graduates of Texas Wesleyan University will attend their commencement ceremony on May 14 at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>UNT Health Fort Worth is holding commencement ceremonies on May 20 at Dickies Arena.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tarleton State Fort Worth graduates will attend commencement ceremonies at the university\u2019s Stephenville campus on May 8 and 9.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>University of Texas at Arlington students <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2026\/04\/30\/a-family-journey-in-scrubs-mother-daughter-duos-nursing-story-at-uta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">walked the stage<\/a> at Globe Life Field on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Check each school\u2019s website for information on times, parking, guests and attire.<\/p>\n<p>Summer classes are fast-approaching \u2014 plus some other ideas<\/p>\n<p>For those looking to get ahead in their academic journey this summer, Tarrant County colleges and universities are offering summer courses.<\/p>\n<p>TCC offers classes during multiple summer sessions. The earliest one begins May 15 with a registration deadline of May 11. Dates and deadlines for all sessions can be found on the community college\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tccd.edu\/academics\/register-for-courses\/registration-deadlines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>TCU\u2019s earliest summer sessions begin May 11. Registration deadlines vary but are as early as the day classes begin. Students can find all sessions and corresponding dates <a href=\"https:\/\/registrar.tcu.edu\/summer-academic-dates.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Wesleyan students can choose from six different sessions. The earliest two begin May 26, and registration deadlines vary. More information can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/txwes.edu\/media\/registrar\/calendars\/Summer-2026-Official-Academic-Calendar_v_2-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tarleton State Fort Worth follows the same academic calendar as Tarleton State University in Stephenville. The first of the three sessions offered begins on May 26, and the last day to register late for a course in that session is May 28. Dates and deadlines for all sessions can be found on the school\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/registrar\/academic-calendars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>UTA is offering several summer terms. The earliest ones begin May 11, with regular registration ending for those terms the day before. All sessions and corresponding dates are listed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uta.edu\/academics\/academic-calendar\/summer-14-weeks-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Academic calendars for UNT Health Fort Worth vary depending on a student\u2019s program. Schedules can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unthealth.edu\/registrar\/academic-calendars-2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not taking summer classes? Here are other ways to make the most of the break.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work at a job or internship.<\/li>\n<li>Spend time with friends and family.<\/li>\n<li>Build a personal website.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteer.<\/li>\n<li>Focus on your mental health through mindfulness or meditation.<\/li>\n<li>Visit a museum or other cultural institution.<\/li>\n<li>Make a summer reading list.<\/li>\n<li>Try a new hobby.<\/li>\n<li>Learn to cook.<\/li>\n<li>Spend time in nature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>McKinnon Rice is the higher education reporter for the Fort Worth Report.
