The Monique Burr Foundation for Children\u00a0(MBF) 5th\u00a0Annual \u201cA Night in the Vineyard,\u201d presented by The Shee Family in partnership with SoNapa Grille and Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC), raised a record $283,000 for the foundation.<\/p>\n
Guests enjoyed live musical entertainment, live and silent auctions, gourmet cuisine by SoNapa Grille, curated wine pairings by RNDC and superb company \u2014 all in support of MBF\u2019s mission to keep children and teens safe.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you to everyone who supported \u2018A Night in the Vineyard,\u2019\u201d said Edward Burr, MBF founder and board chairman. \u201cIt is incredibly moving to witness our community come together for a shared purpose and mission \u2014 to protect children by empowering them with the knowledge and strategies they need to stay safe. We are truly thankful for the generosity of this community. Over the past 29 years, driven by Monique\u2019s spirit, MBF has reached a record 22 million students, but there is still more work to do. Our mission continues to grow, thanks to the support of our donors, volunteers and community partners, who are contributing to a brighter future where children can be children.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event commemorates Child Abuse Prevention Month and all proceeds from \u201cA Night at the Vineyard\u201d directly support MBF and its prevention education programs, comprehensive, evidence-based personal safety curricula that educate and empower children and teens to prevent, recognize and respond appropriately to child abuse, bullying, online dangers, human trafficking and other forms of child victimization.<\/p>\n
\u201cI’m honored to lead the team that brings MBF’s mission to life in classrooms and after-school programs every day, but none of it is possible without the community that surrounds us,\u201d said Ashley Garrett, vice president of prevention education. \u201cThis year, thanks to incredible partners like Duval County Public Schools, the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Florida, the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville (Jax Pal),\u00a0the University of Florida, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and supporters across the nation, we have reached more children than ever before. The risks children face are real, and they are evolving, but so are we. As our MBF community stands with us, we will always be one step ahead, fighting for the safety and future of every child we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Monique Burr Foundation for Children develops and delivers age-appropriate, evidence-based prevention programs designed to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to unsafe situations. By intervening early, MBF\u2019s programs work to break the cycle of polyvictimization, addressing not only child safety but also walking alongside them in how to build healthy relationships over their lifetime.<\/p>\n
Over the last 29 years, MBF has reached 22 million children in 42 states and seven countries, including Puerto Rico, Canada, New Guinea, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Lebanon. MBF has trained more than 10,000 facilitators\u00a0on MBF prevention education programs in schools, afterschool organizations and sports programs.
