Kate Martin is searching for a new WNBA home.<\/p>\n

The 2018 Edwardsville High School graduate was waived by the Golden State Valkyries on May 7 after spending one season with the franchise, which selected her in the WNBA expansion draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Martin, a 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 6.2 points and 2.7 rebounds last season.<\/p>\n

She has been working through a Grade II quad strain entering this season. The Valkyries said in a May 5 release that Martin was \u201cprogressing well\u201d after the injury was diagnosed April 28.<\/p>\n

Originally selected in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces, Martin spent her first professional season there and quickly became a fan favorite, earning the nickname \u201cMoney Martin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Golden State\u2019s move could open the door for a reunion with Caitlin Clark<\/a>. The pair helped lead Iowa to consecutive runner-up finishes in the NCAA Women\u2019s Tournament.<\/p>\n

Martin finished her college career with 1,299 points, 756 rebounds, 473 assists, 148 steals and 70 blocks in 163 games. She remains the only player in Iowa history with at least 900 points, 500 rebounds, 400 assists, 120 steals and 60 blocks.<\/p>\n

At Edwardsville, Martin scored 1,516 career points and helped the Tigers reach the state tournament twice, including a second-place finish in 2017.
