JACKSONVILLE, Fla. <\/strong> \u2013 Residents in Duval County may notice the smell of smoke as plumes from a 1,400-acre wildfire in Lafayette County drift into Northeast Florida. Officials say the South Canal Fire, located southwest of Duval County, is pushing smoke into the region due to strong winds \u2014 and conditions are expected to persist through the evening.<\/p>\n

Light rain may offer some temporary relief, but smoky conditions are likely to linger until a cold front moves through overnight. Emergency management officials are actively monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n
