The $150 million project will feature 360 apartment units, with 10% designated as affordable rentals. The rest will be high-end apartments, with prices increasing on higher floors that offer expansive views of the metro. “There’s really nothing like it in downtown Des Moines metro. We wake up every morning, rain or shine. This is what you get,” said Seth Sojka, project manager. Sojka explained that crews are currently working on the 28th floor, laying components that will soon be covered with concrete. “You know, this is an opportunity once in a lifetime for all the folks here, myself included. So, be part of this and to deliver it, you know, every time on-site, it’s a new experience. It’s a new view. It’s awesome,” Sojka said. Crews are adding a floor each week, and the building is expected to be topped out by June. Teeling provided a tour of the building, highlighting the lobby, which will include a mail room, workstations, a dog-washing area and a small convenience store. The second floor will house a gym, while the roof will feature an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub. “On the right and the left the lobby area … think about it like a five-star hotel,” Teeling said. Teeling emphasized that the tower is more than just an apartment building. “It will send a message to, to the folks that invest in cities. Des Moines is open to business.
