We\u2019re hearing from United Healthcare and Blue Cross Blue Shield.<\/p>\n

It comes after Carolina East Medical Center released a statement.<\/p>\n

About no longer being in network with certain plans under the two.<\/p>\n

The plans affected include the UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage benefit plan and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage plan.<\/p>\n

According to Carolina East, this doesn\u2019t impact Carolina East physicians.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what the companies are saying.<\/p>\n

First, from United Healthcare, in part<\/p>\n

We are actively engaged in discussions with Carolina East with the goal of reaching an agreement that preserves access to the health system\u2019s hospitals for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries,<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And, from Blue Cross Blue Shield.<\/p>\n

We will continue working with CarolinaEast in other areas, including Medicaid, and remain open to welcoming the hospital back into our Medicare Advantage Network should it choose to participate in the future.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The changes for both start July 1.<\/p>\n

To be clear, Carolina East says it will continue to accept patients with these specific plans.<\/p>\n

The difference will be, though, that you may be subject to out-of-network coverage.<\/p>\n
