tournament which is still his biggest career title.

This led to many big hopes for the Canadian, with Shapovalov predicted to return to the top 10 by next year.

However, things have not gone so smoothly since then, with <a single set en route to winning his fourth title on the ATP Tour.

After beating American Aleksandar Kovacevic in the final, 6-4 6-2, Shapovalov has officially become one of just six ATP players who have won multiple titles in 2025.

This list is headlined by Roland Garros champion Carlos Alcaraz, who has won five titles this year including one Grand Slam and two Masters 1000 events.

The remaining players on the list have all won two titles in 2025, with world number one Jannik Sinner holding both Wimbledon and the Australian Open as the standout from those names.

Sinner is not the only Italian player on this list, with Flavio Cobolli emerging as a dark horse for the US Open after his breakout season in 2025.

Taylor Fritz won both of his titles on grass this year, helping him prepare for his best ever result at Wimbledon where he reached the semifinals.

The final name on this list is Felix Auger-Aliassime, who won two titles in the opening month of the 2025 season.

However, that form has not continued throughout the rest of the year, which includes Auger-Aliassime going on a four-match losing streak during the clay court season.

Now Auger-Aliassime’s Canadian compatriot, Shapovalov, is taking the headlines after his latest title win.

Denis Shapovalov handed ranking boost ahead of the US Open

After his second title victory of the season, Shapovalov is set for another boost in the ATP rankings.

The former Wimbledon semifinalist began the week ranked at world number 33, which would leave him just outside the seeded places for the US Open.

However, after his title win at the Los Cabos Tennis Open, Shapovalov will now gain 250 ranking points and is set to climb up to world number 28, just one place behind the aforementioned Auger-Aliassime.

<blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-captioned="" data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/p/DMUdNNdgsLe/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" Shapovalov to be seeded for the US Open, as he only has 100 points to defend before the New York major, and should help give him an easier draw for the earlier rounds.

Shapovalov has struggled at major tournaments so far this year, winning just two of his five matches.

 <script async
