Good morning, Chicago.<\/p>\n

The city prepared to say its final goodbye to Chicago police Officer John Bartholomew, as visitation for the slain 10-year CPD veteran was held in Edgewater.<\/p>\n

Visitation at St. Andrew\u2019s Greek Orthodox Church began yesterday afternoon and stretched into the evening. One after another, police officers filed into the church.<\/p>\n

Bartholomew was\u00a0shot and killed\u00a0inside Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital nearly two weeks ago while guarding a suspect. A second police officer, Nelson Crespo, was critically wounded in the same shooting.<\/p>\n

Hyde Park birding couple Pat and Steve Pearson have ventured out to Chicago\u2019s Southeast Side once a week for over a year keeping their eyes and camera focused on two bald eagles soaring above South Deering. The couple watched the birds carry large twigs high into the treetops near Park No. 597, just south of Indian Ridge Marsh, gradually building a massive nest. They weren\u2019t sure the nest would produce a baby eagle \u2014 but they hoped.<\/p>\n

The national bird hasn\u2019t been born in Chicago in over a century. That changed on April 28, when the Pearsons spotted a small grayish-brown eaglet peek its head above the nest.<\/p>\n

Bruce Tammen, the founder and artistic director of Chicago Chorale, is retiring and will conduct a final concert later this month.<\/p>\n

For decades, the National Museum of Mexican Art\u2019s performance space has hosted leaders, artists, writers and performers from across Latin America and the Chicago area, with its programming only growing.
