{"id":782599,"date":"2026-05-08T19:23:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T19:23:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/782599\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T19:23:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T19:23:15","slug":"arsenal-and-man-utd-alerted-as-atletico-madrid-abandon-ederson-pursuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/782599\/","title":{"rendered":"Arsenal and Man Utd alerted as Atletico Madrid abandon Ederson pursuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brazilian midfielder Ederson could now be heading to the Premier League this summer after Atletico Madrid moved towards a deal for his international teammate Joao Gomes instead, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal.<\/p>\n<p>Atalanta star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/ederson-silva\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ederson<\/a> had been Atletico\u2019s leading midfield target for weeks, and personal terms with the Brazil international were already agreed.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite extensive talks between the clubs, Atletico refused to go beyond \u20ac45million (\u00a339m, $53m) for Ederson, while Atalanta remained firm in demanding at least \u20ac50million (\u00a343.2m, $59m).<\/p>\n<p>That impasse has now seen Diego Simeone\u2019s side intensify their pursuit of Gomes, with sources telling us that a deal worth around \u20ac45million (\u00a339m, $53m) for the Wolves midfielder is now close.<\/p>\n<p>As we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/news\/atletico-madrid-transfer-news-joao-gomes-man-utd-wolves\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first revealed last month<\/a>, Atletico had already opened talks for Gomes amid growing doubts over whether a breakthrough for Ederson could be achieved.<\/p>\n<p>Now the Spanish giants are pressing ahead with the Wolves star, leaving Ederson to seriously consider alternative destinations.<\/p>\n<p>We understand Ederson\u2019s camp were fully aware of Atletico\u2019s parallel interest in Gomes and remained understanding of the club\u2019s stance throughout negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>The midfielder\u2019s representatives had previously informed interested clubs that Ederson\u2019s focus was on completing a move to Atletico, but the collapse of that transfer has now reopened discussions with multiple suitors.<\/p>\n<p>While Inter Milan and Juventus are both keen on the Atalanta ace, the strongest interest is currently emerging from England.<\/p>\n<p>Newcastle United remain long-term admirers of the 26-year-old and have tracked him closely for the past two years.<\/p>\n<p>However, we can confirm Ederson\u2019s agents have also held talks within the last 10 days with Manchester City, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/arsenal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arsenal<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamtalk.com\/manchester-united\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manchester United<\/a> and Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>We understand that Arsenal, who are aiming to win the Premier League and the Champions League under manager Mikel Arteta, are seriously exploring the market for a new midfielder.<\/p>\n<p>Sources have told us that Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is a huge admirer of Ederson.<\/p>\n<p>The Gunners are assessing the financial package required to tempt Atalanta into a sale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Want more breaking transfer lines from original sources?
