BOGOTA, May 8 (Reuters) – Colombia’s economy likely slowed its growth rate during the first \u200cquarter of the year, amid uneven performance \u200cacross different sectors, showed a Reuters poll on Friday. It \u200balso indicated deteriorating expectations for growth in 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The median estimate from 15 analysts polled showed Colombia’s gross domestic product (GDP) likely grew 2.2% \u200cfor January through \u2060March, down from 2.6% in the same period last year.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The poll’s median \u2060estimate was slightly above the central bank’s technical team’s forecast of 2.1%, which was revised this \u200bweek from \u200ba previous estimate of \u200b3.2%.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Growth expectations for \u200c2026 fell to 2.5% from 2.8% in the previous survey; while predictions for 2027’s economic growth declined to 2.3% from 2.8%.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Agriculture, oil and mining production were expected to hit their lowest levels \u200cin over a decade, while \u200bconstruction was forecast to \u200balso show limited \u200bgrowth, said Camilo Perez, director of \u200ceconomic studies at Banco de \u200bBogota.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Consumption \u200bwas expected to report strong numbers and public sector employment helped offset weak sectors, Perez \u200bsaid.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Colombia’s statistics \u200cagency DANE will publish first-quarter GDP data \u200bon May 15.<\/p>\n
