<\/p>\nPolice said a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head in a home on San Antonio’s south side Friday afternoon, sparking a homicide investigation.<\/p>\n
SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A man was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of his head Friday afternoon on the city\u2019s south side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.<\/p>\n
Police said officers were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. to the 8900 block of Prairie Hill Street after a neighbor called to report concerns that someone inside the home may have been shot.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they located one victim inside the residence with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the back of the head, SAPD said. Authorities noted there also appeared to be gas inside the home.<\/p>\n
No weapon was immediately recovered, according to police.<\/p>\n
Officers conducted a sweep of the residence and did not find anyone else inside, officials said. The case is being investigated as a homicide.<\/p>\n
Homicide detectives are expected to process the scene and conduct a thorough search for evidence, SAPD said.<\/p>\n
According to officials, the incident does not appear to be active and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the community.<\/p>\n
Based on the condition of the body, investigators believe the shooting may have occurred several hours before officers were called to the home, possibly overnight, according to police.<\/p>\n
